Jeans and health: a narrow topic
Jeans – an essential item in the wardrobe, perhaps, of every modern person. They are gladly worn by women and men of any age. They are no less in demand among children. And many parents they are in a hurry to put on fashionable clothes on their baby from almost one year old. But few people know that jeans have an author, and his name is Levi Strauss. And his birthday, February 26, is the best time to learn about the appearance of your favorite jeans more, to understand which styles are the most comfortable, and most importantly – safe for health.
A bit of history
The appearance of jeans – a pure coincidence that occurred with a young haberdashery Levi Strauss. The years of his youth came in the middle of the XIX century, when the “gold rush” swept America. And, wanting to earn some money, the guy went to San Francisco. At first, he engaged in trade, offering citizens various materials for tailoring, including thick and durable sailing fabric. Once, when communicating with a client, Levy had to listen to many complaints about the fact that it was impossible to find strong pants on sale. Then the guy decided to help and ordered from the tailor trousers from dense material, which he traded. So in 1853 the first pants appeared, sewn in the image of Venezuelan sailors’ clothes and called “jeans.”
The tight trousers offered by the young merchant were so popular with society that the glory spread about him with lightning speed. Already by 1870, Strauss earned serious capital and became one of the American millionaires. From 1860, a material called indigo denim was used to make jeans. Soviet citizens learned about the existence of such clothing in 1957 during the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow.
Today jeans are popular all over the world. According to a study conducted by a large German company specializing in household appliances, some women wear any kind of things much longer, including jeans, than they have in relationships with one man. At the same time, the average duration of wearing jeans for respondents was approximately 4 years and 4 months.
What is the danger of jeans for health?
According to the results of numerous studies, personal observations of beautiful women and doctors, jeans can actually be dangerous to health. And it depends not so much on the quality of their tailoring, as from the style. Today, at the peak of popularity are tight jeans. Slips, tubules, jeggings – variants of fashionable trousers that can harm health, a great many, and problems with health, which they cause, even more:
- tight clothing interferes with superficial microcirculation of lymph and blood;
- squeezing jeans hinder the normal development of the pelvic bones;
- pants with a tight belt disrupt the flow of blood to the internal organs;
- skinny jeans with prolonged wear cause numbness of the lower limbs;
- they squeeze the stomach, pressing the intestines and disrupting its work;
- the tight fit of the fabric during movement leads to friction and redness of the skin;
- skinny jeans in warm weather or with increased physical activity provoke diaper rash;
- lack of air access to the external genitals often becomes the cause of the fungal infection of the perineum;
- wearing tight jeans in winter leads to hypothermia, which, as a result, causes circulatory disorders in the female reproductive system;
- tight pants can be one of the main factors contributing to the development of infertility;
- their constant wear due to lack of nutrients and oxygen to the body impairs the elasticity of the skin on the thighs and buttocks.
The health problems listed above are not the entire list of body irregularities that can cause skinny jeans. The American doctor Octavio Bess was even coined a separate term – “tight pants syndrome”, used to determine the cause-effect relationship of the occurrence of certain problems.
Tight jeans are dangerous not only for women, but also for men. Tight pants in the first place adversely affect the work of the reproductive system of the male body. Studies conducted by British scientists have shown that prolonged wearing of tight jeans contributes to a decrease in sperm quality, impaired potency and weakening of the bladder. Tight fit and constant friction of the tissue increases the risk of infection of the urinary tract. It is also likely that everyone who wears tight jeans periodically during active movement is faced with a testicular twist, which is extremely dangerous for the so-called male health. Scientists were able to establish that approximately 10% of men wear tight-fitting trousers to cause various health problems. Also, 25% of mods have already experienced irregularities in the bladder.
Skinny jeans with high or low waist are equally harmful. And this applies to men and women of all ages. But in addition to the style of the danger of such a popular wardrobe item may be hidden in the quality of its material. First of all it concerns the paint, allowing to give trousers this or that saturated color. Paints with a high content of phenol can be used to process clothes of poor quality. Skin contact with a large amount of phenol can lead to burns, and exposure to the body of high concentrations of this substance often affects the nervous system, impairs blood circulation and respiration, irritates the mucous membrane of the eyes and respiratory tract.
Beauty requires sacrifice?
Modern Europeans are less likely to clothe their body in narrow dresses for beauty. More popular among them are high-waisted jeans with a free cut. But the Russians still can not give up their favorite tight-fitting pants, putting their health at greater risk. Experts recommend that you make the right choice for your health as early as possible. Skirts, dresses (for women) and free-cut pants made from natural fabrics (for both sexes) are safer and more comfortable .
If you give up jeans too hard, you can leave them in your wardrobe, but not often wear them. Also, lovers of tight jeans need to remember:
- when irritation appears on the skin, it is better to get rid of the pants;
- wash tight jeans should be at least 2 times a week;
- when discomfort or pain occurs, this wardrobe item should be urgently changed.
Also it is necessary to take into account that in winter it is best to give up tight clothing. Pregnant women are also advised not to wear such jeans, preferring spacious pants that are cut from natural materials.
